It is estimated that 2 billion people will have smartphones by next year! Mobile will likely lead the advancement of recruiting tactics for years to come. Companies are up to the challenge, investing in mobile strategies and optimizing their job postings and career sites for mobile.” Criteria to think about when considering if you are truly mobile: Is your website optimized so candidates can easily view it from their smart phone or tablet? Are your job applications simple and straightforward so it can be filled out and sent via smart phone or tablet? Make sure the text is large enough to read and your buttons are easy to use with the press of a fingertip. Many companies are starting to add “apply via LinkedIn” buttons, but this isn’t enough. Consider adding an “apply later” button or a non-resume based application for even more mobile ease. Candidates prefer to research and apply via mobile. Studies show that as much as 40% of applicants are likely to abandon an application that is not mobile friendly. To obtain the best talent you need to be where they are and you need to fit into their lifestyle, which means you need to be mobile. Mobile is definitely an area where people and businesses are going to invest in 2016.
Social platforms have been booming for quite some time now, but more recently they have started to gain momentum in the recruiting space. Social media has advanced recruiting to new levels where professionals and top talent are more accessible than ever before. Companies list building a talent brand as a priority, yet they don’t invest the time and effort necessary to build and maintain it. Social media is the perfect platform to show potential candidates why your company/brand is the best, and why, when your recruiter calls, they should really consider you a contender. Studies show that millennials show the most brand loyalty, they form and show that loyalty through social engagements. As the world becomes more connected and more digital, social media will continue to grow as a space for recruiting and developing your business. Remember, with all social media, your pages and posts are public; people will see them and react, so be prepared to reply and manage your reputation. Make sure your brand is represented consistently and professionally across any and all platforms you choose to use.
